  • How can I get a custom registration survey page?

To get a custom registration survey page, submit content in Word format to your event manager three business days prior to the event.
  • What is pre-caching?

Our unique technology allows bandwidth to be utilized in the background to pre-cache the presentation images onto each individual’s system in a temporary folder. This ensures that everyone receives a quality presentation where the slides appear on the desktop regardless of Internet connection speed. The pre-caching starts as soon as each participant joins the event and continues in the background throughout the presentation.

  • How can I ensure security on my Mshow?

You can ensure security in the following ways:

    Locking shows
Once the show is underway, leaders can lock a show to prevent new participants from joining. This functionality is available from the leader toolbar.

Checking participants in the Audience List
If leaders want to ensure that only the invited participants attend the show, they can check the Audience List at any time. The Audience List displays leader and participant details, including their names and companies, as provided during login.

In addition, leaders have the option while scheduling their shows to select Only allow those invited to attend. This option ensures that only those participants included in the show’s audience list can register and attend the show. When this option is selected, those not included in the audience list will not be permitted to join the show.

Removing uninvited participants from a show
If the Audience List shows names that are not known to the leader, the leader has the ability to remove these participants and prevent them from rejoining the show.

Securing archives on a per-user basis
Customers can arrange to have file-level security on their archives, requiring all users to authenticate when logging in.
  • How big are the Mshow downloads for leaders and participants?

Client download sizes are approximately 1.96 MB for leaders and 1.47 MB for participants.
  • How many people can I have on my Mshow?

The Mshow technology can scale up to 10,000 participants per show (when not using Application Sharing) and up to 500 participants if using Application Sharing.
  • How much bandwidth is required to share my applications?

When leaders are sharing applications or going on a web tour, the minimum bandwidth recommended for each participant is 56 Kbps.

    APPLICATION
    Excel
    Word
    Outlook
    Web Surf
    Photoshop

    11689.95026

  • How much bandwidth is required for streaming?

To stream audio, Mshow uses standard algorithms (Microsoft Media Player and Real Player) that require 8.5 Kbps for each user listening to the event. For an event with 10 users on the same network, the continuous bandwidth needs would be 85 Kbps. For a user listening to the presentation on a 28.8 Kbps analog modem connection, the streaming audio would require less than a third of the bandwidth.
  • What types of applications can I share?

You can share virtually any application. However, applications with streaming content may not work well because such content is not streaming directly from the source to attendees.
  • How can I give control to another leader?

The first leader to join the show is assigned chair control. If the first leader to join the show is not going to be the chair, control can be passed to the designated leader when he or she joins the show. (Chair control can also be passed back and forth after the show starts.) To assume control, the new leader simply must advance to the next PowerPoint slide.
  • What if I receive a Show error code 30?

A Show error code 30 means the client can connect to the profile server and get data, but something is blocking the heartbeat or keepalive packets. At the registration info page, press Control+T on your keyboard. Two check boxes will open at the bottom; make sure those are checked, then the client may continue.
  • What if I receive a Show error code 20?

A Show error code 20 means the client connects to the profile server but is not able to get data. Usually this indicates that something like a personal firewall, ad blocker or anti-virus software is running. Disable such software to resolve the error.
  • What if I receive a Show error code 10?

If you receive a Show error code 10, an incorrect show number has been entered.
  • What if I cannot connect to the show?

This could mean that you are using an incompatible browser such as an AOL browser or Netscape 7.0. Try logging into the show via SSL.
  • What if I cannot download the software?

If you cannot download the Mshow software, it could mean that:
    • You do not have administrator rights on your computer. You must be granted administrator rights by your network administrator.
    • Your proxy server may limit this type of download. Your network administrator must change the proxy settings.
    • You could be experiencing firewall issues. Try typing Control+T, then log in through a secure connection.

If you continue to have problems, contact Mshow technical support at 800.374.1852 or +1.706.634.3600.

  • What if my PC locks up when I’m attempting to join the show?

If your PC locks up, delete your Mshow software, clear your cache and delete your cookies. If you continue to have problems, contact Mshow technical support at 800.374.1852 or +1.706.634.3600.
  • What if the presenter’s slides freeze?

If the presenter’s slides appear to freeze, close down the presentation and join the show again.
  • What if my browser freezes?

If your browser freezes, press F5, close the show, clear the cache and log back in.
  • What if I can’t start a show and only see a screen that says “Connecting to Show”?

If you only see a screen that indicates you are being connected to a show, remove the Mshow software and reinstall it.
  • What if I cannot start a show from the studio?

If you have pop up blocking software installed, you will not be able to start a Now Show. This keeps the progress window from appearing and will not allow the browser to initiate the Mshow log on window.
  • What if I have participants with slower Internet connections on my show?

If you have participants with slow Internet connections, you can practice the following quality assurance measures to ensure success:
    • Specify a longer lobby duration to allow for pre-caching and encourage your participants to log in as early as possible.
    • Position a video clip later in the presentation so it has time to cache while you are delivering your presentation.
    • Keep the video window size as small as possible without compromising quality.
  • How big can my PowerPoint presentation be?

Content for Mshow cannot exceed 100 MB. For larger content, contact your event manager.
  • What if a leader takes control of the show out of turn or a participant joins as a leader?

To take back control or change a leader to a participant, you can disable a leader using the Audience tab on the Leader Console.
  • Can I show animations and slide transitions in presentations?

Mshow’s content conversion program supports all animations created in PowerPoint 97 through to PowerPoint 2000. As with regular content, we recommend that you preview your presentation to ensure that you are satisfied with the conversion results.

PowerPoint XP has new animations that are not currently supported by Mshow. If you submit a PowerPoint presentation with new XP animations, Mshow substitutes the most similar PowerPoint 2000 animation objects.

If you use PowerPoint XP, but you do not want Mshow to replace your animations, you can create your animations in PowerPoint 2000 format. To change to PowerPoint 2000 format from within PowerPoint XP, go to Tools > Options > Edit and select New animation effects under the Disable new features section.

With this option selected, all available animation options will be converted by Studio without substitution.
  • Why are participants seeing a green screen when I share an application?

Participants may see a green screen while sharing is loading if they have slow Internet connections. If all participants are seeing the green screen, this could indicate that the sharing servers are not receiving the shared image from the leader. If this happens, start a show using SSL and try sharing again.
  • What do I need to use live video streaming with an Mshow?

Presenter requirements for streaming video include:
    • The signal can be sent via ISDN 384 Kbps using traditional videoconferencing endpoints. Mshow will not accept an IP video conference connection at this time.
    • Mshow will accept transport of the video signal over video fiber.
    • Mshow can utilize a signal sent via satellite transmission. If the video signal is encoded during delivery, you must send the valid decoder hardware to our Mshow video operations facility. Additional charges apply for all satellite transport.

If you have your own streaming infrastructure, you can produce the streaming distribution. InterCall then needs the streaming URL and to perform a Delta_T delay test in order to synchronize your streaming equipment with the Mshow service. There is a minimal setup charge for running this on your streaming video events.

Participant requirements for streaming video include:
