Letter from Bob Wise
VP of Marketing and Strategic Business Development
With the growing attention to global warming, the pressure is on businesses to be environmentally conscious. Think about it: a car traveling 500 miles per week creates nine metric tons of carbon dioxide per year and a single transatlantic flight from London to New York creates 1.2 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions. So how can workers cut emissions to help the environment without harming their productivity?
One way to have a good effect, of course, is by using conferencing to replace travel, or changing your company’s policies on telecommuting. This is being more widely adopted every year. InterCall finds itself in an exciting position as we help more and more of our customers to make positive changes in their businesses.
By using conferencing as an alternative to travel, workers save time, money and ultimately increase their productivity. Audio, video and web conferencing services enable employees to work from home and stay connected to co-workers, customers, vendors and partners who are critical to business. Workers can give a presentation, review documents or demonstrate software, just like during an in-person meeting, without getting in a car or flying on a plane.
These simple steps can have huge effects on the environment. A recent survey of telecommuters in Arizona found they drive 5 million fewer miles per year, generate 165,000 fewer pounds of air pollution and endure 170,000 fewer hours of stressful driving time per year.
At InterCall we are proud to help do our part and we invite you to take advantage of the tools that are available so you can do yours.
See what’s possible.
