Letter from Bob Wise
VP of Marketing and Strategic Business Development
Can you believe summer has already arrived? According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, nearly 1 in 6 workers telecommute during the year. As more companies condone telecommuting and high-speed bandwidth is more readily available, moving the family to a summer home for the season is a viable option. Applications such as Podcasting (listening to business meetings on your iPod), audio conferencing (from a landline, cell phone or BlackBerry) and web conferencing keep employees connected to the office on a daily basis.
The typical second-home owner spends about 5 weeks on a vacation property, and telecommuting allows a person to enjoy the summer investment more. With gas prices high and continuing to rise, this is a cost-effective alternative to driving to and from a vacation home on weekends. Employees considering a move to their summer home should make sure there are reliable connections for web and audio conferencing. If a wireless connection isn’t available, it may be necessary to have a high-speed landline installed. Once the connection is established, the telecommuter needs just a computer and a phone and is an easy point and click away from the office.
We are constantly challenging ourselves with how we can better support our customers’ and employees’ needs for balance between work and play. So while hitting the road this summer, we are proud to help keep you connected. How connected? Well, that's your call.
Thank you for your continued business,
Bob Wise
