INTERCALL PARTICIPATES IN CULTURAL CONNECTIONS PROGRAM
Conference calls are not just for business to
business meetings anymore. InterCall, working as part of
Bristol-Myers Squibb’s Secure the Future®
program, helped 300 New Jersey sixth graders communicate “in-person”
with South African middle-schoolers via videoconference. The
students from Hopewell, NJ, spoke with the South African students as
part of a cultural exchange.
“Advances in communications technology are
removing geographical boundaries and enhancing our children’s
cultural experiences. This is the type of experience the children
would not have been able to replicate with e-mail or
letter-writing. Conferencing is expanding the size of the classroom
and enriching the experience and interaction with educational
groups” said Bob Wise, Vice President of Marketing at InterCall.
“Using video conferencing to allow children to create face-to-face
relationships with friends across the globe is something we’re proud
to participate in.”
InterCall was one of three companies that
joined with Bristol-Myers Squibb in delivering services and/or
underwriting costs of the program.
