The InterCall Lounge treats customers to songs from rising artists at leading labels –instead of standard hold music – while they wait for a conference call to begin. If users like what they hear, they can visit www.IntercallLounge.com to download the song, and five other featured songs, free of charge.
"This concept is truly is a win for everyone," said Kathleen Finato, SVP Marketing and Business Development at InterCall. "It gives customers a unique experience and offers talented artists an opportunity to expose new audiences to their music."
Headliners at the InterCall Lounge include artists from such top labels as Sony, EMI and Universal who will treat customers to a mix of musical stylings – from folk to pop to country. The early line-up includes Neko Case, Greg Laswell, Dave Mason, The Alternate Routes, Booker T (with Neil Young) and Trevor Gordon Hall. Each month, the InterCall Lounge will feature new music from six different artists.
"It's the little things that make or break the conferencing experience, and our customers tell us hold music is one of them," Finato said. "Switching up hold music would have been easy, but we wanted to do something different – something that really engages customers. So our new feature not only gives customers the opportunity to sample music from emerging artists, but it also enables them to 'participate' by downloading what they like for free."
According to InterCall, the average conferencing customer waits on hold for more than 150 minutes annually.
"It's been exciting to work on an initiative that breaks new ground," Finato said. "We're using music and artists to emotionally fortify InterCall's brand and enhance the conferencing experience."
